Highland Setters
Located in the foothills of
Eastern Kentucky where the hunting is usually rugged. Our terrain
is very steep with much of the area covered with strip mines that
have grown up in briars, pine thickets and honeysuckle.
Our bird population consists
of mainly Ruffed Grouse, Woodcock, and a few Bob White Quail.
These birds use the cover
very well hiding in the thickets where many dogs refuse to go.
Our dogs will take the time to check the thickets for their concealed
prizes.
After many trials and errors
we discovered the Old Classic Lines of Foot Hunting Setters filled
our needs better than their faster cousins. They have proven to
be easily trained, natural retrievers, dogs for which the cover
does not get too thick to hunt, but yet remain manageable adjusting
their range to the cover they are hunting.
The background of our dogs
(Pedigrees) is concentrated around the Classic Foot Hunting Lines
of Setters.
Ryman - Old Hemlock
- Alder Run
They are natural hunters for Grouse-Woodcock-
and other game birds found in the mountains.
Dogs that are truly
a hunter's best friend!
